Our history
The birth of the Manos Unidas Foundation is marked by a painful anecdote: where our Director witnessed the childhood of Wilman Galeano suffered from a great disease and he with his good heart that characterizes him for being a good person, who ran to help him Since then, he decided to fight with all means for helpless children by providing medical care , food, affection and a place to live.
What do we do
Our work team at Fundacion Manos Unidas All for a smile from children with cancer, is to bring illusion, joy and hope to the maximum possible number of hospitalized boys and girls, favoring their stay in the hospital as well as family members who experience situations of anguish and emotional stress, providing relief from their long fight against the disease.
The project that gives life to this work consists of making direct contact with the patients, boys and girls who are minors. In each hospital we have a work team made up of volunteers, we dress the hospitals with characters that tell stories (clowns, puppets and storytellers), we develop cultural activities: crafts, songs, face painting, among others.
Why do we do it?
The number one cause of death in children with cancer on the Colombian Atlantic Coast is the abandonment of specialized medical treatment. This is due to the great difficulty in accessing cancer treatments, which the most vulnerable families face during such a difficult time. The Manos Unidas Foundation is a private, independent and non-profit organization that aims to eliminate these obstacles and meet the needs of these unprotected populations.
